At Ocean Travel Clinic in Vancouver, we provide Yellow Fever vaccinations and official immunization certificates to ensure you’re ready for international travel.
What Is Yellow Fever?
Yellow fever is a viral disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes. It’s prevalent in certain parts of Africa and South America. The virus can cause fever, chills, nausea, liver damage and jaundice in severe cases.
Is the Yellow Fever Vaccine mandatory?
Yes! Upon entry, many countries require official proof of yellow fever vaccination (the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis). This is especially true if you’re arriving from or transiting through a country at risk of yellow fever transmission.
Who Needs the Vaccine?
You should get vaccinated if you:
-
Travelling to or through a country listed as “yellow fever risk” by the CDC or WHO
-
Are required to show proof of vaccination to cross borders
-
Are over 9 months old (required age for immunization)
When Should I Get Vaccinated?
We recommend getting vaccinated at least 10 days before your departure, as the certificate becomes valid 10 days after the injection. The Vaccine typically provides lifelong protection with just one dose.
